ipsvd
- Ebuilds: 1, Testing: 1.0.0-r3 Description:
ipsvd is a set of internet protocol service daemons for Unix. It currently
includes a TCP/IP service daemon, an SSLv3 TCP/IP service daemon (Linux and
MacOSX), and a UDP/IP service daemon.
An internet protocol service (ipsv) daemon waits for incoming connections on a
local socket; for new connections, it conditionally runs an arbitrary program
with standard input reading from the socket, and standard output writing to the
socket (if connected), to handle the connection. Standard error is used for
logging.
ipsv daemons can be told to read and follow pre-defined instructions on how to
handle incoming connections; based on the client's IP address or hostname, they
can run different programs, set a different environment, deny a connection, or
set a per host concurrency limit.
Normally the ipsv daemons are run by a supervisor process, such as runsv from
the runit package, or supervise from the daemontools package.
ipsvd can be used to run services normally run by inetd, xinetd, or tcpserver.

lldpd
- Ebuilds: 4, Stable: 1.0.20, Testing: 1.0.21 Description:
LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) (also known as 802.1ab) is an industry standard protocol designed to supplant proprietary Link-Layer protocols such as Extreme's EDP (Extreme Discovery Protocol) and CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol). The goal of LLDP is to provide an inter-vendor compatible mechanism to deliver Link-Layer notifications to adjacent network devices.
lldpd is a lldp daemon for GNU/Linux and implements both reception and sending. It supports both LLDP and LLDP-MED (contributed by Michael Hanig). It also implements an SNMP subagent for net-snmp to get local and remote LLDP information. The LLDP MIB is partially implemented but the most useful tables are here.
lldpd supports bridge, vlan and bonding. bonding need to be done on real physical devices, not on bridges, vlans, etc. However, vlans can be mapped on the bonding device. You can bridge vlan but not add vlans on bridges. More complex setups may give false results.
A small utility, lldpctl, allows to query information collected through the command line.
lldpd also implements CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol), FDP (Foundry Discovery Protocol), SONMP (Nortel Discovery Protocol) and EDP (Extreme Discovery Protocol). However, recent versions of IOS should support LLDP and most Extreme stuff support LLDP. When a EDP, CDP or SONMP frame is received on a given interface, lldpd starts sending EDP, CDP or SONMP frame on this interface. Informations collected through EDP/CDP/FDP/SONMP are integrated with other informations and can be queried with lldpctl or through SNMP.
With the help of lldpd, you can get a map of your network. You may also want to look at Wiremaps or NetDisco which are a web application that helps you to see what is connected to where.

mcproxy
- Ebuilds: 1, Stable: 1.1.1-r2 Description:
IGMP/MLD proxies offer the possibility option to combine
local multicast networks with a larger multicast infrastructure.
In contrast to multicast routers, proxies are lightweight and
do not require the support of a multicast routing protocol such as PIM or DVMRP.
A common use case is a local stub networks that interconnects with
a remote multicast routing domain, e.g. via a tunnel.
But it can also be used in PMIPv6 domain to enable multicast for sources and listeners (RFC 6224).
The Mcproxy meets the requirements of the IGMP/MLD proxying standard (RFC 4605)
and has additional functionalities. The multicast proxy can be instantiated multiple times,
is dynamically configurable at runtime, supports multiple upstreams and peering-interfaces
for a non hierarchical interconnection of multicast proxies.

networkmanager-no-modify-system-patch
- Ebuilds: 1, Testing: 1 Description:
READ THIS BEFORE USING THIS PACKAGE.
Official Gentoo packaging of NetworkManager >=1.42.6 unconditionally
sets a nondefault build-time option (-Dmodify_system=true) that
allows ALL logged in users to modify system connections, including
reading network credentials (https://bugs.gentoo.org/905668). This
ebuild provides a patch to the configure script that disables the
logic behind this option, so that network settings are again
protected from untrusted users and programs.
This ebuild is package.masked by default as it has the potential to
break the build of NetworkManager, especially on ~arch when a new
version of NetworkManager is released and the patch no longer
applies cleanly. Pings are welcome if things break on unstable and
I haven't updated the patch yet.
After installing this package for the first time, rebuilding
net-misc/networkmanager is required.

This package represents an effort to extend upstream OpenSSH with three big patchsets.
WARNING: These patches are of lower quality than vanilla upstream OpenSSH and often have
correctness issues.
The patches are:
* HPN (High performance SSH/SCP) adds custom ciphers that allow for more aggressive
buffering and/or multithreading, leading to better network throughput. Many of these
optimizations are not relevant anymore due to AEAD ciphers changing MAC nesting or
because more CPU performant ciphers are being used in this day and age (ChaCha20).
WARNING: HPN's multi-threaded AES CTR cipher is known to be broken and should not be relied upon.
* SCTP patches by Patrick McLean. These enable SSH over SCTP.
* X509 patches by Roumen Petrov. OpenSSH upstream will never support standard PKIs for
authenticating users. This patch series adds support for X509 certificates.

- Ebuilds: 1, Stable: 1.16.1-r1, Testing: 1.16.1-r1 Description:
I just noticed that netpipes doesn't support bidirectional pipes.
So I made my own version.
Now I can say in computer A that "plis 12345 -io ohjelma" and in computer B
that "pcon A 12345 -io ohjelma2", and they communicate together then.
My example utilization was that I can send the picture of SNES-emulator to
another computer via network, and grab the keyboard input there, so get two
consoles to the same game.
My friend wanted to watch when I play FF6, but didn't want to sit next to my
monitor, and asked if he could get the picture to his monitor.
And he got it.
Then he asked if he could play it from his computer at the same time as me...
And now it works too.
Other ways of use can everybody invent theirselves.
It's really easy to make simple server software with this.
For example, do "plis 79 -io finger" and then you have a finger-service.
Or "plis 5555 -o 'cat signature'" and then port 5555 gives your signature.

The modified version can handle commands like "update config", "start/stop mining" or "restart/shutdown/reboot" which can be send from the CC-Server Dashboard.
Assign config templates to multiple miners with a single click and let them switch configs without connecting to each of them.
Watch your miners logs with the simple remote Log viewer and monitor you miners. When the hashrate drops or one of your miners went offline you can get a notification via
PushOver or Telegram automatically so that you dont need to watch your miners all day.

remote system (rsync, in comparison, requires that you have an rsh or ssh
account, or that the remote system runs rsyncd). Instead, it uses a control file
-- a .zsync file -- that describes the file to be downloaded and enables zsync to
work out which blocks it needs. This file can be created by the admin of the web
server hosting the download, and placed alongside the file to download -- it is
generated once, then any downloaders with zsync can use it. Alternatively,
anyone can download the file, make a .zsync and provide it to other users (this
is what I am doing for the moment)."
