The AWS Command Line Interface, major version 2, built from source.
AWS CLI v2 is a separate product line from v1: it adds AWS SSO / IAM
Identity Center login, an interactive auto-prompt with server-side
completion, the `aws configure import`/`export` family, YAML output, and a
CRT-accelerated `aws s3` transfer manager. It also carries forked copies of
botocore and s3transfer under awscli/, which is where those v2-only features
live; they are deliberately not unbundled.
Because both v1 (app-admin/awscli) and v2 install /usr/bin/aws, this package
is named awscli2 and blocks app-admin/awscli and app-admin/awscli-bin rather
than replacing them. Migrating from v1 to v2 is an explicit choice with
behavioural differences documented upstream; it is not something a @world
update should do silently.
Unlike v1, AWS CLI v2 is not published on PyPI. The only source release is
the GitHub tag, which is what this ebuild builds.
