Composer is the dependency manager for PHP. It resolves the libraries
a project declares in composer.json, installs them into vendor/,
records exact versions in composer.lock and generates an autoloader.
Packages come from Packagist by default, or from VCS, path and
private repositories.
Installed from the upstream release phar, which bundles all of its
own dependencies. The in-place "composer self-update" command does
not apply to this install; updates come through Portage.
