minikube runs a single-node Kubernetes cluster on a local machine, so a cluster can be used for learning, development and CI without any cloud infrastructure. It drives the node through a pluggable driver: a container runtime (docker, podman), a VM hypervisor (kvm2, virtualbox, qemu) or the bare host itself (none, ssh).
