Description:

hipFile is AMD's Infinity Storage library, the ROCm counterpart to NVIDIA's GPUDirect Storage. It lets a file be read or written directly between storage and GPU memory over DMA, skipping the usual staging copy through a host bounce buffer, and offers synchronous, asynchronous and batch I/O entry points. Where the direct path is not available it falls back to ordinary POSIX I/O, so callers need no separate code path. Upstream describes this release as an early-access technology preview.
